Tianyang Lei (zh: 雷天杨) is an integrated designer focusing on mechanical engineering and human-centered design. As a graduate student at Carnegie Mellon University's Integrated Innovation Institute, he explores the integration of engineering and human-centered design with a comprehensive engineering sense and design thinking. He believes in engineering solves people's difficulties, human-centered design serves people in the appropriate way. Only developing engineering projects with design thinking that put human needs in the first place can create groundbreaking innovations that serve people and society in a good way.


Raised in China, lived in the U.S., and had multiple exchange studying experiences in various countries around the world, his cross-cultural background provides him many unique insights on engineering, design, and society. His experience gives him the ability to become an impactful team player in cross-cultural project teams, collaborative, and labs.
